Along Maui's rugged eastern coastline is the peaceful town of Hana, considered one of the last unspoiled Hawaiian frontiers. The legendary road to Hana is comprised of narrow one-lane bridges, hairpin turns and incredible island views. Hana is home to abundant flourishing rainforests, flowing waterfalls, plunging pools and dramatic seascapes.
Hana and the surrounding communities are isolated from the rest of the island making it the last undeveloped tropical paradise on Maui. Hana itself is a small town where Hawaiian traditions are alive and aloha is a way of life. Hana has great beaches and is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world Residents and visitors alike swim and sunbathe at Hana Beach Park, Waianapanapa State Park (a beautiful black sand beach), and Hamoa Beach, cited by author James Michener as the most beautiful beach in the Pacific.
Residents of Hana and the other small communities on this part of the island revel in the scenery and the slow pace of life. If you are looking for a change of address and a change in lifestyle, Hana real estate offers all of the above.
Other surrounding communities that offer a serene lifestyle on the east side of Maui include: Keanae, Nahiku, Kipahalu, and Kaupo. All four communities offer a taste of Old Hawaii and slower-paced life. East Maui living is a wonderful opportunity to get away from the rigors of the modern world.
