Paia in on the north shore of Maui, at sea level and goes a little higher up the mountain, just below Hailemaile. Paia is a small but bustling community. Once an old plantation town for the nearby sugarcane and pineapple fields, Paia had a resurgence in the '60s and '70s as artisans and freespirits migrated to the community. The area has been a beacon to artists and free spirits for over three decades. It is also an area with tremendous natural beauty.
 
Paia is a reflection of its history as a booming sugar cane plantation town with its old plantation style wooden buildings still intact. This quaint little beach town has an array of fine specialty shops, boutiques, surf shops, antique stores, bakeries, and even an old fashioned tattoo parlor. Award wining restaurants offer casual and full service dining with local and international culinary deli
 
Located at the base of Haleakala, the area has a county feel with rolling pineapple and sugar cane fields.The climate is quite pleasant due to the area's consistent cooling trade winds. Tradewinds bring trade showers that keep the foliage lush and tropical and frequently fill the sky with rainbows.
 
Paia has great beaches such as Baby Beach, and Baldwin Beach. Paia is like no other town on Maui. It's kind of funky (in a good way) with a style that is all it's own.
 
Paia homes for sale contain luxury beachfront residential properties and quaint plantation cottages in a North Shore surfing community. Many of these properties are only a short walk from downtown Paia, full of restaurants, retail shops and cafes.
 
Spreckelsville is a small upscale neighborhood just outside of Paia Maui, located right on the ocean. This area is great for windsurfing and many windsurfers launch from the many beaches of Spreckelsville. Spreckelsville homes are coveted by Maui windsurfers.

The closest town to the world famous Ho'okipa Beach Park, Kuau's combination of wind and waves challenge surfers and wind surfers from all over the world . Kuau's location, conveniently close to Paia and great watersports, makes it a very desirable community
