Lahaina - Lahaina is one of Maui's most vibrant towns, often called the "jewel in the crown of Maui." Lahaina, a town with a vibrant past, sets a dramatic stage in history, interspersed with Hawaiian chiefs and kings, foreign ship captains and missionaries, and immigrant plantation laborers. Long famed as the former capitol of the Hawaiian kingdom, Lahaina, and the surrounding area, was the playground of kings and royalty.
 
In the early nineteenth century, Lahaina was also a historic whaling village during the whaling boom of the mid-1800's. Up to 1,500 sailors from as many as 400 ships took leave in Lahaina including Herman Melville, who immortalized the era in his classic novel Moby Dick. Known for the spectacular oceanviews and warm climate, Lahaina and the surrounding area is a popular destination for both visitors and residents.

During the winter months, this is an inimitable and spectacular location to see the Humpback Whales breech in the ocean before you.
 
Launiupoko - A benefit to living in the Launiupoko Community is the close proximity to beaches like Launiupoko Beach Park, a favorite amongst local residents. This beach provides endless good times for the entire family including swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, surfing, body boarding, and fishing.
